Once you have confirmed the preferred date of your examination, you will be sent a confirmation email of this booking being placed.

This will include the details of your allocated exam session and date and the details and location of the Examination centre.

The maximum number of candidates we are able to accommodate at this time is: 40 candidates per exam cycle. Once this number of candidates is reached, you will be offered alternative RN OSCE exam dates to make your selection from.

Candidates who have paid their RN OSCE fee and have been contacted by the IQNM Exam team to select their preferred exam date don’t have a closing date to submit their preferred date response.

However, places for each cycle are limited to 40 candidates per exam cycle and these spots are expected to fill up fast. Places will be given on a first come, first served basis, if you are delayed in replying to the booking selection email, you risk missing out on a place at the next RN OSCE.

If upon receipt of your response to the booking selection email, your chosen exam date is full. The IQNM examination team will be in contact to confirm your options for alternative RN OSCE dates.

Each RN OSCE exam cycle does not have waiting lists available. If a spot become available, the next person on the list of registrations may be offered the option of taking the spot.

The offering of a spot will be determined by the IQNM exam team and will take into account any administrative timelines that are required to be adhered and will be dependent on whether there is enough travel time for a candidate to get to Adelaide to participate.

At registration you will be handed a candidate ID card. This card is what will initiate the reading materials outside of each station as you progress through the examination. If you have any issues with the card during the examination, please put your hand up and ask for assistance from the exam invigilators on the exam circuit.

How long will the OSCE go for? Candidates will be allocated to either an AM or PM session. Each session will go for approximately 3- 3.5hrs.

Each station is allocated ten (10) minutes which is allocated as follows:

• Two (2) minutes – Reading time outside of the exam room

• Eight (8) minutes – Interaction or performance time inside of the room.

Testing Centres will use a series of bells sounds and announcements to signify the timings during the examination.

The sounds will be as follows;

Bell Start of Examination - begin reading time

Bell End of Reading time – enter station room

Announcement Warning – you have 1 minute left of interaction time.

Bell/Announcement End of Station time – move onto next station and prepare for reading

If you need assistance at any time during the examination, you can do so by requesting this from an examination invigilator. There will be invigilators located on the exam circuit who are there to assist you should you require it.

Most stations will require the use of a simulated patient however, there will be some stations that will use smaller pieces of equipment or manikins to simulate part of the patient.

It should be noted that there is not a defined number of stations that will include a simulated patient or manikin

The role of the examiner is that of an observational one for most stations, unless specifically stated as part of your candidate instruction. Candidate should not ask questions of the examiners, unless advised to do so within the reading material before entering the exam room.
